Newsletter 2010

Finally my book on painting animals came out in August 2009. I thank you for your constructive feed backs. Since Page One in Singapore published their own version, many Asian readers also wrote to me. I hope more of you will not hesitate to write to tell me what you think of the book.

After spending most of my time trying to get well in the past two years, I was able to indulge more time in 2009 to paint. Responding to many readers expressing that they found it difficult to master the techniques of washes on absorbent paper, I spent the past few months refining the techniques. The results are expressed in my new artworks of landscapes and bird paintings. I have uploaded some of them in my web site. Do have a look. This coming term, many of my pupils will learn to handle washes in the expressive and effective way.

I am enclosing one of the oldest form of the Chinese character "tiger". Many believe that Chinese characters evolved from picture. It does look true in this writing. May be you can write the word and send it to your friend to celebrate the year of the Tiger. Tiger is a symbol of strength. I wish all of you to have the strength to journey through 2010.
